  • India’s New International-Education Reality: How policy reform, foreign university campuses and collaborative delivery models are reshaping access to international education within India.
  • The Domestic Student Opportunity: What India’s vast majority of domestically enrolled students expect from an international education experience closer to home.
  • Awareness of TNE Models: How well students understand branch campuses, dual and joint degrees, pathways, exchanges, online programmes and other forms of transnational education.
  • The Rise of International Branch Campuses: Whether students recognise and trust emerging foreign campuses in India—and what may persuade them to consider enrolling.
  • Affordability, Employability and Return on Investment: How students evaluate tuition, scholarships, recognition, placements, mobility and career outcomes when assessing international programmes.
  • The Student Decision Journey: How students, families, counsellors, digital search and peer conversations collectively influence higher-education choices.

This report is a starting point for conversation. We invite international universities, Indian institutions, policymakers and education partners to connect with Acumen to explore what these findings mean for their transnational education strategies, programme portfolios and long-term approach to internationalisation in India.

FROM INSIGHT TO ENGAGEMENT

India’s international-education landscape is entering a new phase. Foreign university campuses are becoming operational, collaborative programmes are expanding, and international qualifications are increasingly accessible without students having to complete an entire degree overseas.

Yet institutional presence alone will not create demand. Students and families are asking practical questions about affordability, recognition, international exposure, academic quality and career outcomes. 10K Voices: International Education, Made in India examines what students understand, value and trust as transnational education takes shape across the country.

WHY THIS REPORT MATTERS

India has created the conditions for international education to reach a much wider group of students. However, the research reveals a defining gap between attention and trust: curiosity is growing faster than confidence.

Students will not choose an India-delivered programme simply because it carries an international name. They expect a credible combination of affordability, recognition, employability, academic quality and meaningful global exposure. This report helps universities, policymakers and education partners understand what will be required to convert international reputation into locally trusted student value.
